DRESS CHANGE FOR ‘SHE’ POWER!

The Indian woman does it all. She’s daughter, she’s mother. She’s friend, she’s lover. She’s homemaker, she’s corporate honcho. How does she switch roles and moods? It’s not so simple. Every day, today’s woman has to move from one end of the spectrum to another – from strategy meetings to mehendi functions, from kitty parties to candlelight dinners. She maintains a perfect harmony between her diverse roles with a versatile exterior medium – her attire! Think about it. Here is a country of diverse cultures and a mind-boggling array of dresses. Most women agree that they are able to match the mood with the occasion through the power of dressing. Attire depicts a certain aura she exudes. When she is in a business suit, she stands for power and decisiveness. A chiffon saree with a string of pearls is all about elegance and style. Put her in a chikkan churidar kurta and she exudes feminity. If she is wearing a traditional silk, she represents devotion and respect. Not just the dress, but even its colour and cut make a statement about the way women think and respond to situations. Ace designers describe it as a very contemporary trend and fully support the use of power dressing as a means to achieve different ends.

Unlike yesterday when trends were followed blindly by the in-fashion female, we have styles and fabrics that are highly individualistic and sometimes, region specific. A bird’s eye view of fashions in high corporate and business circles will tell you that while women in business suits are a familiar sight in some cities, the saree and salwar kameez still rule the roost in other areas. Clearly, diversity in India comes through in the dressing style of the fairer half! In fact, a change of attire also works wonders for the mind. Most working women are quick to declare that the moment they step out of their business suits and get into casuals, they automatically switch off from office mode to ‘’chilling out with family’’ mode. No more target tensions and number crunching for them – jeans and tee are comfortable and make mothers emotionally ready for the home front. On the other hand, if you are planning to go out for a wedding, a cocktail party or an evening out with friends, there’s no better pep-up than putting on makeup and styling the hair. The moment you look better, you’ll feel happier with your entire persona. Happiness within is all about happiness beyond. So here’s to the modern, never-say-die, multi tasking Indian woman! Remember, there’s no power like ‘she’ power!!
