Famous Nift designers

Hey guys some really cool news about akka NIFT student. Recently the passing out batch of the fashion design of National Institute of Fashion Technology(NIFT) presented their graduating collection at Fashionova'07. Each designer brought their new concepts and designs. All esembles were according to fashion and their readiness fot the industry.

Nift students were very excited about the whole event. Designers won many awards in different categories. One could see amazing collections of knits, woven fabrics, embellishments, prints, cuts and whole fresh styles straight from young designers.

Really hats of to our Nift students! It rocks:-)

Latest fashion outlets

Hey your friend Monika is back! I know bit late this time. But am sure my latest news updates will put back all those lost smiles. So folks be prepared for all those spicy stuff. Recently the square one mall at saket, Delhi did a relaunch of sorts to pull in the fashionistas to the designer wear stores there. Both apparels and jewellery designs got together to show case the seasons summer look.
The whole concept was so new. The models roamed the huge mall, walked down and posed for shutterbugs in designer ensembles. The designs got the popularity but designer Anju Modi designs were real attractions. People went mad on the yellow trapze tops, capris, sleeveless tops, kaftans, waist belts and lots more.
Jewellery was equally attrative. Ear tops and neck pieces were latest attractions.
Now don't wonder how I got all this spicy new. Off course I was invited:-) Now this time am not kidding:-)

Organdy fabrics

Hey guys heard of organdy dresses. Organdy is basically a cotton fabric with plain weave. Some may have lappet, swivel or flocked designs. This fabric is made with tightly twisted yarns.

Crispness is due to finish with starch and calendaring which washes out, or a permanent crispness obtained with chemicals. (Heberlein process).

Wrinkles badly unless given a wrinkle-free finish(bellmanizing). May be bleached, dyed, printed, frosted, flocked, embroidered or plisse.

Indian kota doria sarees

Hey friends bought some intresting news about the popular kota doria sarees. These are made of pure cotton but now they are also available in silk and synthetic fabric (monga kota). The characterstics of kota is in its checks which are formed during the wearing process. Course yarn are used for forming these checks.
Kota sarees are available in 3 different types.

PLAIN KOTA: These sarees have checks formed either by gold or by coarse cotton threads. Sometimes these threads have self embossed or woven designed.

PRINTED KOTA: These are generally white or off white background and has sanganeri patterns on them. Traditionally these sarees would have 3 to 4 inch border, a pallu and the body of the sarees printed either with single motifs or jalls.

ZARI KOTA: These sarees have broad zari border which go upto 6 inches and zari pallu worked in the same style as the border. These sarees can have zari buttis on them. The patterns are floral or geomectrical. Bright colors like deep orange, red, purple, turquoise blue and yellow are favourite colors for these sarees.

Cool cotton fabrics this summers

Cotton is absorbent and draws heat from the body. Some of the colors like turquoise blue, shocking pink and black always bleed and require special precautions when washed at home.

Cotton fabric is one of the world's major textile fibres. It is obtained from bushy plants. There are four main types of cotton-American Upland, Egyptian, Sea Island and Asiatic.The flowers from which these different types of cotton are obtained vary in color and texture, thus providing each type of cotton with varying characterstics. Cotton, in general, is very elastic. It can withstand high temperatures, has high washability abd is very susceptile to dyes.

Traditional cholis from Jaipur

Hello friends, today I was out with my friends when I saw something mindblowing and cannot stop myself from discussing with you. I saw one of the foreigner wearing a very ethnic traditional chaniya choli. I really appreciate that the outsiders following our traditions.

Choli is actually tightly fitted, short blouse that ends just below the bust worn under a sari. It is either long sleeved, short sleeved or sleeveless. One can wear these traditional cholis with lehengas, jeans, ghagras or saris.

The choli evolved as a form of clothing in 10th century AD and the first cholis were only front covering; the back was always bare. Blouses of this type are common in the state of Rajasthan.
Today, there are numerous styles of cholis inspired by the booming Indian fashion industry.

Indian salwar kameez

Hey friends monika again. Today am gonna tell you something about our indian coutures like salwar kameez. This is another popular attire of women in India.This salwar kameez dress evolved as a comfortable and respectable garment for women in Kashmir and Punjab, but is now immensely popular in all regions of India.

For some of my friends who are not very much aware about the dress let me tell you that salwars are pyjama-like trousers drawn tightly in at the waist and the ankles. Over the salwars, women wear a long and loose dress known as a kameez. One might occasionally come across women wearing a churidar instead of a salwar.

A churidar is similar to the salwar but is tighter fitting at the hips, thighs and ankles more like leggings. Over this, one might wear a collarless or mandarin-collar dress called a kurta. One could also go for capris, trousers, pants, parallels with kameez.

Hi buddy oops buddies!:-) Monika with some whity stuff. Ok ok without making further stories let me tell you something which you will definately love to hear. Yup today am gonna discuss about my favourite color'WHITE'. There's nothing more elegant and graceful than a white outfit. Though most ladies wanna go for bright colors but white have its own grace. A lady in white!

White color signifies peace and gracefulness. Whether its white saree, salwar kameez, lehnga cholis or those beautiful christian bridal gowns nothing can go wrong with color white. Its a fresh summerish color which gives a cool effect. Its great for summers and suits all age groups. Its a perfect nine to five color. And that's the reason I love it.

White is a color which can be paired with any other color and adds much grace to the outfit.
