Fabrics like tussar silk !

Hey today your friend Monika is here with some silky stuff. Just kidding. But todays hot topic is tussar silk. So get set ready for to get silky:-)Tussar Silk is made with an extra warp yarn. It is mostly made with a plain back but some with a twill. Some are made with a silk pile and a rayon or cotton back. Terms comes from the latin"vellus" meaning a fleece or tufted hair. Comes in many types, qualities and weights. Good velvet wears fairlly well and is inexpensive. The cheaper cloths give little service and look well only a few times before beginning to deteriorate. Better velvet may be crush resistant, water resistant and drapes well.

Tussar silk has to be handled with care, and are pressed on a velvet board. It can be cut all one way. For the maximum amount of depth in the color, cut with the pile running up. Velvet should be cut with very simple lines in the garment, so not to destroy the beauty of the fabric. It has the tendency to add weight to the figure. It is used in all types of after five wear, at home wear, draperies and upholstering.

So folks next time you wanna go silky just catch up some tussar silk. Kidding ;-)

Enjoy summers with some flirty skirts

Hey friends I 'm monika with a very some very friendly advices for my female friends this summer. Forget the floppy cargo shorts with their many pockets and zippers, and toss out those tired, pleated walking shorts. This summer, fashion is all about flirty skirts, floral prints and yes, get ready, the dress. Most of my female friends are reluctant to show much skin even when the mercury tops the century mark. If the though of lots of bare skin this summer makes you want to hide under a baggy T-shirt, take a fresh look at how to make fashion work for you. Although many women believe shorts, T-shirts and sneakers are the best way to beat the heat, flirty skirts can add a touch of the feminine, while keeping you cool.

Skirts are the way to go, despite their being determined by many to be worn only on special occasions. The best skirt is a flared, knee-length silhouette. The skirt can be made in any fabric with a soft hand, like washed linen, rayon or cotton. But avoid denim skirts in summers though I know many love those denims. But I would suggest to give them a break in summer.

So friends enjoy summers with these tips and enjoy the high mercury levels.
Bye Bye:-)

Tips and tricks to preserve traditional south Indian silk sarees

Hi friends Monika this side. Long heard! I know must be wondering where I have been so long. Guys I was busy collecting some very important info just for you. Hard work pays so here I am with amazing tips for the ladies who love to preserve the beauty of traditional south Indian silk sarees forever. Commonly known that the beauty of brocade sarees and rustle of pure silk always demand care and slight pampering. But the question arises how to preserve them?
Now here my role comes in. I have few answers to these frequent questions. Just go for dryclean only if and when necessary. Always wrap the pallu and borders into the folds of the sari making the plain body protect the more intricate and delicate portions of the saree. Avoid putting and fragrance in the packing but if wanna keep it scented just put some satin pouch filled with sandalwood powder where your sarees are kept.

Last not the least always keep these silk sarees in muslin to keep them stuck in anything and make sure that the moths and silkver fish don't catch it. Just follow these tips and see how your delicate silk sarees keep shinning for years.

Famous chikankari from Lucknow

Heard of famous Indian embroidery called chikkankari or popularly chikan from Lucknow. Yup guys i am here with quite a spicy facts about it. Chikan is a traditional embroidery. India literally translated the word means embroidery. Believed to have been introduced by Nur jehan, mughal empror jahagir's wife, it is one of lucknow's most famous textile decoration styles. Patterns and effects created depend on types of stitches used and the thickness of the threads used in embroidery. Some of the varities of the stitches used include back-stitch, chain stitch and hem stitch and results in an open work pattern, jali or shadow work. Traditionally, the threads used are in the same color as the fabric.

The little white stitches of their individual excellence provide the ornamentation. Its charm lies in its miniature size and evenness. Inverted satin forms are worked on the right side with minute stitches, while the thread accumulates on the wrong side giving an opaque quality to the pattern. Chikan cannot be mass produced. Each piece, whether it is a saree, kurta or even table linen is one kind and cannot be replicated. This muslim art has been adapted to meet the demand of International fashion market.
It rocks guys and so our INDIA!
THREE CHEERS FOR INDIA:-)

Crepe is a type of woven and knitted fabric with a wrinkled surface. Satin crepe apparels have the shinning effect of satin and crepe effect and gives a perfect fall. Silk crepe, chiffon crepe are also few subtypes of crepes popularly used in women outfits. The biggest advantage of crepe are that they are light and weightless.

Fashion trends and lifestyle

Hey you all think guys!does lifestyle reflect fashion or does fashion reflect lifestyle? According to me both fashion and lifestyle mean different things to different people. While some buy more of premium brands others splurge on a single item that makes a strong statement. A female dressed in premium brands like Guess, Espirit or Wills lifestyle makes as much as lifestyle statement as her male counterpart who might simply accessories his attire with a Rado or Omega watch, or a designer pen in his pocket.

So its alwayz important to choose your own style statement-flashy, subtle, branded, off the streets- if you are comfortable you are 'in vogue' In todayz india nothing hinders fashion. Seasons, financial constraints, uncomfortable options, age, personality types-nothing holds us back from staying stylish. For men keep in mind those classic and quality investments that say lot about how much interest you take in your appearence.

Friends Quality speaks more than Quantity!

Global fashion inspired by Indian designs

Hey guys Monika again and this time greetings for our Indian designs accepted globally. Yes friends I am absolutely correct. You know our country has become the one stop shop for top global fashion names to draw inspiration for their collections. It is not new, even earlier the designers looked towards india for inspiration but then it was more focussed on its textiles and traditional indian crafts like tie n dye and hand embroidery

But today we find them getting inspired by typically Indian silhouttes. You know short kurti known as tunic on the ramps in Milan, New york and Paris is literally most fashionable to flaunt out there in west. Not only cuts but our desi colors also rule!

So we can just say'MERA BHARAT MAHAN'
INDIA ROCKS!!!

Fashion trends for men!

Guys always complain that I[monika] just brings hot and happening news for girls, so this time I bought some latest only for male section. Boyz enter into this interesting boyz zone and watch out wht's hot this year. Fear not!while you might feel that different coloured shirt is fashionable as it gets, accessories like your tie, cuff links, belts, shoes and watch are a bigger fashion statement than you might realise.

Some of the more obvious fashion statements are leather straps around the wrist, beads around the neck, diamond studs, designer sun glasses. Other subtle accessories that speak volumes of a person's lifestyle include branded lighters and lighter covers, cigratte cases in silver with patterns on them, designer and embossed reading glasses, the more popular and now more affordable being Gucci, YSL, Vogue, colors, Calvin Kein. Leather planners in black, brown and tan that corporates carry to their meetings.

Accesories such as the above are a one time investment that are classic, can be used over and over again and only add to powerful persona. So now friends I hope u guys not gonna complain.
Soon will be back with some more crispy news!

Beauty of Indian sarees

Hey this time gona discuss a beautiful Indian outfit called 'saree'. I know most of us know about what saree actually is and must be wondering that I have gone out of my mind for discussing such a common thing but guys i am actually here for discussing some really cool and unknown facts about sarees. Sari is not just a fashion statement that will go away with the times, rather its the most sensuous Indian outfit. Some are very different like primarily slit saris, concept sarees with very unusual drapes, levelling sarees, ghagra sarees, double sarees.

The fashion industry has evolved tremendously over the years. The great consciousness about the new fashions and styles and every one wants to look good. There is now a lot use of sensuous fabric namely net, lycra, georgette, chiffon etc. Women alwayz want outfits to flow to their figure, which make them appear sensuous and flattering. Choli blouses, noodle straps, backless, speghetti straps are much in fashion. The magic of saree lies in parennial uniqueness . The simplicity and gracefulness of saree speak the thousands words.

So girls next time you wanna go for some really changed new look just steal your moms sarees and wear them with sexy backless, strapless, noodle strap blouses and see the magic.

HOPE YOUR MOMS NOT LISTENING :-)

Latest fashion tips and tricks

Sorry guys bit late. I know must be wondering were I have been. Guys your friend monika was busy collecting latest hot stuff just for you. And now here I am. Girls get set go becoz you gona love me for the stuff I found for you. We some where or other always make mistakes while following fashion trends. Now note some tips and try not to repeat them. Everything in the same color is passe. Always stick to two or three colors when matching outfits and accessories. Try and break the monopoly of your outfit with a striking purse, belt or pair of shoes or contrasting earings.
Never match your lipstick and eye shadow to the color that flatter your skin tone and face structure. Supper tight clothes are a sure fire path to a wardrobe malfunction. Shop by fit not by size. Less is always more-don't overdo the accessories. Choose between elegant necklace and the dangly earrings.

So girls always remember matching from top to bottom is not chic and fashion. I hope the next time you gonna dress up in your best fits you will not repeate same mistakes!
